NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 6- Betty Addero Radier has been appointed the new Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chief Executive Officer effective December 1, 2016.

Radier takes over from Jacinta Nzioka-Mbithi, who has been in an acting capacity since the exit of Muriithi Ndegwa in February this year.

“The KTB Chief Executive Officer will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing leadership to the management team in the development and implementation of the Corporation’s strategic direction that will result in the growth of international tourist arrivals, domestic tourism, tourism revenues, and increased brand awareness,” KTB board Chairman Jimi Kariuki said.

Radier brings with her over 18 years of senior management experience in marketing, strategy and operations and has held the position of Managing Director of Scanad Kenya (current), JWT and Scanad Advertising Tanzania, McCann Kenya Ltd, and Lowe Scanad Uganda Limited.

“After a thorough selection process, the Board of Directors is delighted that Radier will lead KTB as we continue to make positive progress in the recovery journey of our tourism industry,” said Jimi Kariuki, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“I have no doubt that she is the right person to take the helm at KTB as the Corporation enters its 20th anniversary in 2017.”

Radier holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi.

Jacinta Nzioka-Mbithi, the KTB Director of Marketing, will continue in this acting capacity until the new Chief Executive Officer officially assumes office.
