Relevant content, Wong also says, should also be looked into. He explains that it would be difficult to integrate the Internet into people’s daily lives if they do not have content that addresses their immediate needs.
Wong also calls on the issue of affordability. He says that regardless of the importance of having internet access, there is need for it to be affordable. “One should spend 5percent of less on the cost of data per month. If it exceeds that amount, then it is simply too much and unaffordable.”
The use of social media is to however not be demonised.
Apart from widely connected people and making communication easier, the platforms are also being used for economic use. “There are many businesses that operate solely on social media sites that have in turn thrived, hence bringing development,” Wangila says.
