ELDORET, Mar 10 – Leading farm machinery distributor Massey Ferguson (FMD) is planning to provide a one stop shop for farmers as they make preparations for the planting season in the Eldoret and Kitale.

FMD East Africa, will hold Xtra Care Clinics in Moiben, Kipkaren and Cherangany for owners of Massey Ferguson tractors and planters. Demonstrations will be carried out using the MF 106 planter and participants will be shown good planting practices.

Philip Cheruiyot, the Sales Manager of FMD East Africa, said, “The free calibration of Massey Ferguson planters is done to ensure that the implements have correct inter-row and intra-row seed placement for optimum results. It also gives accurate planting depths and quantities for fertilizer. Seeds are also properly placed into the soil to avoid gaping. This promotes vigorous root growth which creates even emergence. Uniform spacing of plants enhances pollination resulting in increased yields.”

“The first clinic will be held at Moiben on March 16th, followed by Kipkaren on March 17th and Cherangany on March 18th. These sessions will be the start of our 2016 Xtra Care Clinics which run through to December. Other areas listed in our programme include Bomet in Kericho, Ndhiwa in South Nyanza, Elburgon in Nakuru, Kibwezi, Nanyuki and Meru.”

Cheruiyot said the aim of the clinics is to bring Massey Ferguson tractors, harvesters and FMD implements which include Baldan, Jacto, Grimme and Enorossicloser the company’s customers. “The Company’s goal is to help farmers embrace mechanization and increase crop yields and profits through good farming practices,” he said.

“All the mechanical checks are carried out by our qualified specialists who are able to offer service and advice about genuine spare parts which are stocked by FMD. We are committed to raising the farm output of our country and therefore we are constantly improving and updating our product lines,” concluded Cheruiyot.

Farmers will benefit from free inspections for their Massey Ferguson tractors and advice on maintenance. In addition there will be complimentary calibration of Baldan and Massey Ferguson planters and spare parts will be on sale at special prices.
