PC and tablet manufacturer ASUS has announced plans to introduce a number of PCs, handsets and gaming products as it seeks to expand its product offering in Kenya.

The product announcements come at a time when the industry has been facing changing demands and expectations from consumers.

“The tech products in 2015 will be geared towards application of the innovative demands of the consumers as opposed to knowledge of the trends. The products that we’ll be introducing will meet this demand,” said  Chris Wen, ASUS Kenya Country Product Manager.

The Taiwanese multinational plans to introduce a smartphone, the Transformer Book T300 Chi and a gaming PC machine by mid of this year. Some of these gadgets were part of the innovations that were introduced by the tech brand at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas three weeks ago.

“Part of our strategy for this year will be to try and introduce locally the innovations that have already been unveiled elsewhere in more developed markets-almost concurrently. This is because we believe that consumer’s needs are becoming similar in a more globalised world,” said Wen.

Mr. Wen added that the announcement of the product lineup shows Asus’ commitment in advancing tech innovations in the gaming, Smartphone and PC industries in Kenya. He adds that this is testament to Asus’ resolve in meeting their consumer’s needs in terms of portability, entertainment and convenience.

During this year’s CES, Asus unveiled other new innovations for various segments. These included a mini PC for the home, professional and commercial display projectors alongside networking solutions for homes and offices.

ASUS also managed to bag seven innovation awards in different categories including; best design and engineering for the ZenBook NX500 and ZenBook UX305 ultraportable laptops, the Transformer Book T300 Chi 2-in-1 detachable, and the ROG GR8 ultra-compact gaming laptop all won awards in the Computer Hardware and Components category.
