NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 17 – Airtel Kenya has joined in the initiative to raise funds that will go towards fighting the deadly Ebola virus that has hit some West African countries that include Sierra Leone where Airtel operates.

Airtel Kenya staff joined their counterparts in Airtel Sierra Leone in the Airtel spirit of helping improve lives in the community.

The initiative spearheaded by staff through personal contributions will boost the Airtel Sierra Leone’s support of the government’s effort in managing and containing the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

In a statement, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi lauded the efforts by his staff, saying “I am deeply touched and humbled by this true demonstration of our staff of their belief in offering a helping hand to those in need, irrespective of their location in the true Airtel Spirit!”

Airtel Sierra Leone has provided Le64,967,860 (Sh1,321,593.94) to the Sierra Leon government and has dedicated Le1 (Sh0.02) from every call made on the network as part of the company’s continued support to fight against the Ebola virus.
