NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 12 – Nakumatt Holdings has opened its 8th branch in Uganda in its ongoing regional expansion strategy.

The new Nakumatt Kisementi is a midsized hypermarket and is located around Kampala’s upmarket Kololo suburb inside the new Acacia Mall.

Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Atul Shah said that plans are underway to enhance the retailer’s network across the region to further support East Africa’s integration goals.

“At Nakumatt Holdings, our regional expansion strategy remains firmly on course and we shall be announcing further branch openings in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and even South Sudan in coming months,” Shah said.

He said alongside their regional stores expansion, the retailer will also be introducing Nakumatt Blue Label and Nakumatt Select private brands in these markets.

“Plans are now at advanced stages to establish Clarks footwear concept stores in Kampala this year. We will also open a Skechers sports lifestyle footwear store in Kampala to meet growing demand for quality lifestyle products,” Shah stated.

Operational Nakumatt stores in Uganda include Nakumatt Entebbe, Nakumatt Mbarara, Nakumatt Bugolobi Village, Nakumatt Bugolobi Express, Nakumatt Katwe, Nakumatt Bukoto, and the flagship Nakumatt Oasis store.

The opening of Nakumatt Kisementi, at the new Acacia Mall now raises Nakumatt branches to 45 branches across East Africa.
