Twitter has introduced a new feature that will give users more control over what they want to see on their timeline. Users can now create a custom timeline making it easier to follow conversations, topics or event tweets.
“You name it, and choose the Tweets you want to add to it, either by hand or using the API. This means that when the conversation around an event or topic off on Twitter, you have the opportunity to create a timeline that surfaces what you believe to be the most noteworthy, relevant Tweets,” explain Twitter in a blog post.
The custom timeline will help curate topical Tweets making it easier for your followers or fans to see what people are saying about a particular subject. Each custom timeline is public, has its own page on Twitter.com so you can easily share it, and even embed on a website.
If you are already using Tweetdeck, then you can easily create your custom timeline with a headline of your own choice. Tweetdeck has always allowed its users customize their content columns but now Twitter has made those customizable columns into actual twitter timelines that can be published elsewhere.
You can create a new custom timeline by adding a new column of type “Custom timeline” on Tweetdeck. To add a new column you can use the add icon “+” in the sidebar or the keyboard shortcut “A”.
