, NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 18 – Total Kenya and Safaricom have entered into a partnership which will allow Total fuel card holders to top up money on their cards using M-PESA.
Customers will top up the Total Bon Voyage cards using the M-PESA PayBill service, by sending the money to the PayBill number 983200.
Speaking during the signing of the deal, Total Managing Director Alexis Vovk said the new plan will make it convenient for Total customers to purchase fuel, lubricants, cooking gas, car care services and items at Total shops.
“The M-PESA PayBill option adds to the convenience of the BV card and saves the time for our customers. It is an additional mode of payment to topping up cards directly from service stations, or remitting payment to the Total Card Centre,” Vovk said.
The maximum amount to be put in the card will be Sh70,000 while the transaction costs will be similar to the usual M-PESA transactions fees.
“The world is now moving towards a cashless economy and with this innovative partnership we are making a compelling proposition for the many drivers who do not have to worry about visiting the bank before going to a filling station,” Safaricom’s Business General Manager Sylvia Mulinge said during the launch.
Lately Safaricom has been aggressively moving towards incorporating M-PESA Services in most of payment solutions.
The latest is the Lipa na M-PESA service that allows merchants to accept payments for goods and services from their customers.
