Governors explain county plans at KAM forum

He said the county intends to bring down buildings in violation of construction laws.

“If you have made violations in building, you have six months to make corrections or the buildings will come down. Some of these buildings don’t have septic tanks, they empty their waste into rivers,” he stated.

A fund of Sh1.2 billion has been set up for development of small enterprises available to youth and women to deal with unemployment and to combat insecurity.

There are also plans to improve the road and rail network in five counties; Kiambu, Nairobi, Murang’a, Machakos and Kajiado.

He said the project will be funded by the World Bank which is willing to give Sh11.7 billion for a common road network and rail transportation.

KAM Chief Executive Officer Betty Maina asked both governors to involve and work with the private sector so that devolution can work.

“The government also needs to hear from us, what we will contribute in terms of job creation,” she said.
