rupu

Rupu, Kenya’s biggest online discount shopping website, and alumni of Forbes Magazine “Top 20 Start-ups in Africa in 2012” officially launched RupuShops and RupuTravel, on Thursday.

RupuTravel, www.ruputravel.co.ke, an online travel portal, will offer Kenyans the best selection for travel packages within the country.  RupuTravel is targeting the Kenyan domestic traveller, and delivers enticing offers on diverse locations, across the country.

“Over the last 2 years, we have built Kenya’s largest e-commerce brand that gives consumers discounts on goods and services in form of deals. Travel was always among our most successful deal categories and we saw that our customers started asking increasingly for it. The next logical step for us was to launch RupuTravel, a portal that brings Kenyans the best deals to travel our beautiful country.” said Ben Maina, Rupu’s CEO

At the same launch, Rupu unveiled another product, RupuShops www.rupushops.co.ke.  An online-shop where customers can choose from over 1,300 Fashion, Electronics and Home & Lifestyle products, RupuShops will provide support the local market by giving any Kenyan entrepreneur an opportunity to feature their goods for free.  Customers can pay via MPesa, Cash on Delivery or Debit and Credit Cards.

Both RupuTravel and RupuShops continue to cement Rupu as Kenya’s largest and online discount shopping website. Founded in 2010, Rupu serves more than 40,000 customers each day. Rupu was named as one of the “Top 20 Start-ups in Africa”, by Forbes Magazine in 2012.
