Twitter includes Kenya in Trends

TWITTER

After days of hinting that Kenya might finally get its own trend location, Twitter has added Kenya and another dozen or so countries and locations in Trends. #KOT can now view the trending topics in the country by simply clicking in the Trends sidebar on Twitter.com. Furthermore, the microblogging site has included Trends for Nairobi and Mombasa, allowing residents of the two cities to get specific trending topics relevant to their location.

“Today, we’re introducing Trends in more than 160 new locations. Included in that list are a number of countries that will be getting Trends for the first tie: Belgium, Greece, Kenya, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Ukraine, plus more than 130 new cities in countries that already have Trends,” wrote Royce Chen-Yue, Software Engineer at Twitter.com on their blog.

Now that we have been ‘officially’ recognized, users can easily find what the trending topics are in Kenya and also get breaking news.

“To make Trends more convenient and relevant for people around the world, we’re constantly working to bring Trends to more locations –– be on the lookout for even more in the future. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to check out our support article on Trends for more information.”
