KCB, Acumen Fund support young talent

Acumen Fund East Africa Fellows Program selects young professionals each year to work with Acumen portfolio organisations in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, India and Pakistan/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 22 – KCB Group has entered into a Sh5 million partnerships with Acumen Fund in support of entrepreneurs drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan.

This partnership is anchored on the need in the region to develop the next-generation of social entrepreneurs who can further the growth of businesses in the region.

Acumen Fund East Africa Fellows Program selects young professionals each year to work with Acumen portfolio organisations in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, India and Pakistan.

“As KCB, we have invested a total of Sh21 million in the Acumen Fund East Africa Fellows Programme which seeks to tap into talented youth who could become the next-big-thing in technological innovations if given the requisite training and financing opportunity to pursue their dreams,” said KCB Director Strategy, Research and Innovation Dr Robert Ochola.

KCB continues to develop young entrepreneurs through its innovative products such as Biashara Banking; a product that provide business customers ease and fast access to financial services across the Bank’s network in the region.

The Bank has also introduced KCB Mtaani a product that enables access to banking services for those who are unbanked in the regions where the bank operates. Recently, the bank launched another innovative idea tapping on the Diaspora market where customers living abroad can transact with ease through KCB Diaspora Banking programme.

The Acumen Fund programme runs on a virtual platform enabling participants to continue to learn through the internet interspersed with exposure through practical assignments and a global visit, preferably to New York to interact with Global Fellows who would be in session.

KCB also offers practical attachment opportunities, mentorship, and facilitation in meeting the learning and exposure needs as well as promote the programme through our regional business infrastructure.
