NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 10 – The board of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has advertised the position of Managing Trustee, two months after Alex Kazongo was sent on leave.

Kazongo, who wanted his contract renewed, was sent on leave in February and Tom Odongo, the manager in charge of investments, appointed to act in his position.

The advertisement says the ideal candidate should be aged between 40 and 50 years and hold a Masters degree in a commercial, management or equivalent field from a recognised university.

The candidate must also have a minimum 10 years of experience in an organisation of a similar size or complexity as NSSF.

Chair of the board of trustees Adan Mohammed sent out a press statement on Monday indicating that Kazongo, who assumed office in May of 2009, has been sent on leave “pending expiry of his contract” in May.

“The Managing Trustee of NSSF has proceeded on leave pending expiry of his contract in accordance with the government circular dated 23 November 2010,” Mohammed’s statement said.

Other members of the board include Cotu’s Francis Atwoli, Labour PS Beatrice Kituyi, Federation of Kenya Employer’s Jackline Mugo, Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cleopha Mailu and Finance Secretary Mutua Kilaka.
