Nakumatt develops customer experience centres

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 9 – Regional retailer Nakumatt Holdings has embarked on a strategic project to incorporate customer experience centres and exclusive brand stores within its branch network.

In a trendsetting development, Nakumatt Holdings will partner with its local and global suppliers to develop brand stores and custom experience centres that allow shoppers to enjoy product applications in various settings.

The centres to be developed under Nakumatt’s Shop in Shop concept will also provide technical advisory services to shoppers, effectively providing a one-stop shop for various lifestyle products.

To set the ball rolling, Nakumatt Holdings in partnership with its lighting products supplier, Creative Innovations has unveiled a Sh10million household lighting experience centre at Nakumatt Westgate.

The new household lighting experience centre has been custom developed in conjunction with Dutch lighting systems manufacturer Philips Consumer Luminaires in the pilot project to be replicated across key Nakumatt outlets.

Speaking during the official opening of the new Philips Consumer lighting experience centre and showroom, Nakumatt Holdings, Managing Director, Atul Shah, confirmed that the retailer would partner with suppliers to establish such experience centres.

Beyond lighting, Nakumatt is set to unveil experience centres showcasing electronic appliances, kitchenware, clothing and food items among others.

“With these experience centres, we are upgrading the traditional showroom to be a zone where customers can try out a product or see it applied in a variety of settings to enable them make informed purchase decisions,” Shah explained.

And added: “for example, with this Philips lighting centre, we’ve gone beyond placing a bulb on the shelf to showcasing the right architectural application to ensure that you get maximum lighting value while saving energy.”

At the new Philips showroom, one of the key features of the modern solutions offered is a new range of ‘mood lights’ to meet emerging customer preferences’. The showroom is also stocked with a range of energy saving Light Emitting Diode (LED) products for various domestic lighting applications.

Philips is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-power LEDs and a pioneer in the use of LED lighting solutions.
