Super cool gadgets at the Mobile World Congress

The annual Mobile World Congress is arguably the biggest event for the mobile industry. Over 60,000 people from 200 countries attended last year’s event. The city of Barcelona is hosting this year’s congress where the big boys in mobile telecoms have brought out their latest toys for a showdown. While a few gadgets and features may still be futuristic, some are just a few months from hitting retail stores. Here are just a few totally awesome features;

41 Megapixel camera

Nokia went all out with its Nokia 808 PureView that has camera features only comparable to professional cameras used by media houses and professional shoots. The power of the camera on the Nokia phone, for the camera lovers, is more powerful than the Canon EOS-1DX and Nikon D4, put together. It can zoom x100 without losing clarity.

Huawei’s super fast phone

The Chinese manufacturer claims its Huawei Ascend D quad is the world’s fastest phone. Powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the Ascend D clocks 1.2/1.5GHz. Unlike most smart phones that run 32 bit processors, the Ascend D series runs at 64 bit, the same as PC’s.

Projector in a Samsung Galaxy

How cool can it get if we can project our photos, video or a power point presentation from a phone? Samsung Galaxy Beam can easily project a 3 feet image onto an 8 feet ceiling or wall.

LG’s half phone-half tab

The LG Optimus Vu has a super-bright 1024 x 768 display screen that puts it at the same level as the Galaxy Note, also on display at the Mobile World Congress. The Optimus Vu boasts one of the biggest screen, making viewing documents, books, internet pages and multimedia contents easier.

Water-powered phone charger

Swedish company, myFC, is showcasing a portable charger which uses just one spoonful of water and a small metallic device called a fuel puck, to fully charge up an iPhone.

Skype for Windows Phone 7

The new Skype app for Windows 7 allows you to make free audio and video calls to your Skype contacts over 3G, 4G or WiFi. The cool user interface has awesome graphics and images display, and makes it easy for multiple or group chats.

Car-phone redefined

The MWC has provided a platform for car and mobile manufactures to show their mashup. Porsche has linked up with BlackBerry, Mercedes-Benz with Apple’s Siri technology, Samsung and Toyota, and Ford’s own B-Max in-car technology.
