KCB Foundation donates to Nyeri hospital/COURTESY

NYERI, Kenya, Feb 6 – Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group and the KCB Foundation over the weekend extended support to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital.

The bank presented a donation of two suction machines for the ICU valued at Sh520,000 which are aimed at easing the plight of patients needing intensive care at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital.

KCB made the donation during the first round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championships (KNRC) series which kicked off in Nyeri on Saturday.

Under its corporate social responsibility programme, the bank through the KCB Foundation invests in community initiatives in all localities where the rallies take place in Kenya and the East African region.

The KCB Foundation also invests in community initiatives focusing on education, environment, enterprise development, health and humanitarian assistance.

Last October, KCB Foundation donated a dialysis machine to the Consolata Mission Hospital in Nyeri. Once installed, the machine will assist patients on dialysis treatment who are often forced to skip treatment sessions due to the long queues.

“This year, the bank has set aside Sh20 million to equip various provincial hospitals in Kenya with dialysis machines to complement government efforts at bringing quality healthcare to the people,” said the KCB Group Director and Foundation Chairperson, Sue Omanga.

Other health projects that KCB supports include the Mater Hospital cardiac program that assists children from needy families access expensive and complex heart surgery and treatment.

The bank also partners with Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital to host children’s medical camps in the rural areas where health centres are not easily accessible.

KCB is also supporting jigger treatment camps in partnership with Ahadi Kenya to help eradicate the jigger menace in villages across the country.
