Seven Seas Technologies clinches Ethiopian deal

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 29 – Leading local integrated Information technology solutions provider Seven Seas Technologies (SST) has clinched a multi million shillings deal to kit Ethiopia’s largest bank data center.

In the deal which is valued at Sh60 million SST will help the Bank of Abyssinia (BoA) to meet its corporate goals to expand and modernise its operations by to providing it integrated information technology solutions.

Amongst the solutions and services to be undertaken by SST include the design, installation and commissioning of an ultra-modern data center at the Bank of Abyssinia headquarters in Addis Ababa.

Speaking during a signing ceremony for the deal in Addis Ababa, Bank of Abyssinia President Addisu Habba disclosed that SST’s solutions are set to lay the foundation for the integration of a core banking system to be installed by the bank in coming months.

“We have engaged Seven Seas Technologies following a very competitive selection process as part of our overall strategy to ensure that Bank of Abyssinia is powered by the most advanced information technology infrastructure,” Mr  Habba explained.

“The selection of Seven Seas Technologies to design and commission our data centre will particularly come in very handy in laying the groundwork for the scheduled core banking system installation by Temenos of Switzerland.”

On his part, SST Founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael Macharia explained that the firm is gearing up to rollout and commission the Bank Of Abyssinia project in the next 3 months. The rollout, Macharia said will cover the provision of some of the latest data centre technologies to power a robust medium sized commercial bank.

Seven Seas Technologies Data Centre and Application Infrastructure (DCAI) division, Macharia explained will focus its energies on automating Bank of Abyssinia Data Centre processes by implementing internationally recognized best practices.

“Working in partnership with the best Data Centre solutions providers in the industry such as EMC, Sun, Oracle and Symantec, we have designed solution that will help Bank of Abyssinia cost effectively meet its requirements while improving data availability in a secure environment.”

In Ethiopia, SST has previously landed multimillion deals to provide Information Technology solutions to Awash Industrial Bank and Dashen Banks in Addis Ababa.

At Awash Industrial Bank, SST was instrumental in the design and deployment of solution providing connectivity inter-branch communication and connectivity to the banking applications at the headquarters and across its branch network in Ethiopia.
