NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 3 – Retail chain Nakumatt Holdings on Friday opened the doors to its new Nakumatt Galleria Hypermarket in Nairobi ahead of an expected Christmas retail sales boom.
Nakumatt Galleria, an anchor tenant at the new Galleria Mall-at the Junction of both Lang’ata and Magadi roads near Bomas of Kenya- is the latest addition to the growing Nakumatt chain and features some of the most advanced retail technologies in the world.
The opening of the new store covering more than 70,000square feet now puts Nakumatt Holdings total stores tally at 32 and is the 16th outlet in Nairobi city, conveniently located near the upmarket Karen suburb.
The opening of the new branch also coincides with the start of a unique prizes galore Christmas promotion where shoppers will earn four smart card points on purchase of selected products from The Meatery, Reckitt Benckiser East Africa, Safaricom, Bidco, Coca-cola, and Unilever among other companies. During the festive season, customers will also earn double points on all their normal purchases.
Speaking during the launch, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Atul Shah said the new Nakumatt Galleria has been developed to showcase the very latest trends in retail stores and fully complements the ambiance of the new Galleria Mall.
“The new Nakumatt Galleria is a signature retail outlet that has been tastefully finished with a very clear consciousness on customer experience and incorporates both an architectural and technological masterpiece,” Mr Shah said.
The store is also stocked with a variety of more than 75,000 products to choose from ranging from Fresh Produce, Horticulture, and Agriculture equipment to Lifestyle products such as furniture, electronics, clothing, toys, branded foods and general products. ALL UNDER ONE ROOF!
The opening of the new store also comes hot in the heels of the recent opening of two new Nakumatt stores in Kampala, Uganda in the last fortnight.
As part of it strategic growth plan, Nakumatt Holdings has been effecting a calculated expansion strategy geared at boosting its turnovers and presence in strategic locations.
While commenting on the local retails sales forecasts, Shah expressed optimism at the possibility of registering more than 20 percent sales growth this year largely on the back of growing consumer demand for retail products.
With an average store keeping unit (SKU) range of more than 60,000 products, Nakumatt Holdings is currently enjoying a premium basket value return with more than 80,000daily transactions.
Alongside Nakumatt Galleria, the ultra-modern Galleria shopping mall is set to provide a much needed facelift to the leafy Karen-Lang’ata area with its variety of services and products on offer.
Set on a 12 acre piece of land, the shopping mall developed and managed by Nairobi Homes Limited is expected accommodate over 50 carefully selected tenants bringing together a mix of businesses .
