LG in plans to reduce green house gases

September 7, 2010 – As electronic manufacturing companies strive to reduce their carbon footprint in their productions, LG Electronics has sets its agenda to cut down its carbon emissions by 150,000 tons by 2020.

According to the LG Electronic  Regional marketing manager, East Africa, Mr. George Mudhune the solar industry cluster has been organized within the LG Group and is achieving vertical integration in the solar power industry:

“As the company is consolidating its solar business operations here in Kenya, LG plans to reduce greenhouse gases by 150, 000 tons by the year 2020 compared to 2008 and aims to reduce greenhouse gases occurring in product usage by 30 million tons yearly.”

Mr. Youngman Ha, LG Electronics New Business Sales Manager also said the company has strictly eliminated usage of harmful substances in its manufacturing processes. Its solar business has also been launched on the basis of environment – friendly leadership of LG Electronics.

With the new LG photovoltaic module, Mr.Ha said the module is perfect for general applications, such as residential, commercial, or utilities. LG promise our customers to provide with unmatched products values and services.

He said the quality assurance process of LG solar is more rigorous than the required Industry standards so as to ensure the best quality, superior durability, and performance:

 “In order to maximize profits for customers, LG insists on high quality material policy and is placing its utmost efforts in aesthetic design and optimal module design,” said Mr. Ha.

Mr. George Mudhune added: “LG considers the solar power business as not a mere business expansion but a new growth engine of the LG Group.”

And as the history of LG’s solar business can be traced back to the mid – 1980s, when the LG central research lab started R&D on solar technologies,Mr.Mudhune said in 2004, the LG business group consolidated several solar research laboratories under the LG Electronics umbrella to create synergy and prepare for mass production.
