CMC appointed Jaguar dealers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 26 – The CMC Motors Group has been appointed the dealer for Jaguar cars in East Africa.

The Land Rover Division, has been expanded to cater for the luxury saloon and sports cars and has been renamed the Jaguar Land Rover Division.

The first consignment of Jaguar cars will arrive in Nairobi in October to stock the new division which will be run by the General Manager, Greg Forster. The Jaguar range consists of the XF executive saloon, the XJ which is a leading contender in the luxury saloon segment and the two door XK sports coupe.

Buyers of the XF and XJ saloons will have the choice of a three litre turbo charged diesel engine, or a trio of five litre V8 power plants with outputs ranging from 385 to 510 horsepower.

In an interview at his Lusaka Road office Greg Forster said, "We have been working with Nigel Clarke, the Sub-Sahara Africa Regional Business Manager for Jaguar Land Rover and Willem Schoeman, the Marketing and PR Manager. Plans are under way for a completely dust free workshop and a dedicated showroom will be built solely for Jaguar adjoining the Land Rover facility at Lusaka Road."

Meanwhile a comprehensive training programme is underway for the CMC personnel who will be responsible for selling and servicing the cars.

Mr Foster exuded confidence that the Jaguar range is affordable to successful business entrepreneurs and senior executives who will be driving on the growing network of good roads. The advent of Jaguar will give buyers of high class cars a very attractive option he added.

"Although Jaguar has not been represented in this part of Africa for over 50 years, motoring enthusiasts who appreciate beautiful fast cars have been importing a variety of Jaguars.  CMC has sold and serviced vehicles in Kenya for over 60 years and now that we have become the dealer for Jaguar, ownership will be hassle free," said Forster.  "We are quietly optimistic of achieving steady sales."

Jaguar owners take great pride in their cars and several classic models have been entered for the forthcoming AccessKenya Africa Concours d\’Elegance which will be held at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 26.
