NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 6 – Emirates Airline has successfully concluded a month long campaign to promote the 2010 Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), an annual shopping, entertainment, and cultural extravaganza that continues to promote tourism in Dubai and draws people from around the world each year.
The promotion ran on Capital FM where many participants won gift hampers daily. Sally Kariuki was the lucky winner of the grand draw – a return air ticket for two to Dubai courtesy of Emirates Airline and Emirates Holidays.
The 15th edition of the shopping fiesta, backed by the strong participation of 50 shopping malls and over 6,000 retail outlets, ended on February 28.
DSF is focusing on three elements that have come to characterise the annual event – Shopping, Winning and Family Entertainment. There are other events as well, including international fashion shows, children\’s events, streetside performances, nightly fireworks, film festivals, and many other cultural events that reflect The Emirate\’s cosmopolitan character.
Dubai Shopping Festival was launched in 1996 to position Dubai as a leading tourist destination and to stimulate the economic and tourism sectors in the city of Dubai. The concept was the first of its kind in the region and proved to be highly successful mainly due to the close co-operation between the government and the private sectors.
