YU offers 50 pc bonus airtime

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 7 – Telecommunications service provider Yu has introduced a 50 percent bonus airtime for its subscribers. Subscribers on the “Amua” tariff will enjoy the bonus airtime on top up for making Yu to Yu calls and SMS.

Unveiling the celebration bundles dubbed “raha, mstarehe”, Yu’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kunal Ramteke said they were committed to bring the best telecom experience to Kenyans: “We will achieve this by introducing the most relevant and value for money offerings to consumers.”

This celebration sees the firm also offering a bouquet of usage bundles as well as amazing phone packages, to cater for a large and varied consumer interest.

The first usage bundles is an exciting SMS bundle targeted at the youth: “Yu understands that there are those who prefer to text, and they can enjoy sending 10 SMS for one shilling per day. All one has to do is subscribe for Sh75, and enjoy 750 free Yu to Yu sms for a period of 75 days,” said Mr Ramteke.

Heavy phone users will enjoy free unlimited calls day and night bundle.  One has the option to subscribe to either a three-day unlimited Yu to Yu bundle for Sh199 or a 30-day unlimited Yu to Yu bundle for Sh1,199, within which time, there is no end as to how many and for how long you make yu to yu calls.

Mr Ramteke said: “There is no charge for yu to yu calls in the bundles, so the only thing one needs to worry about is their phone battery running out.”

“We also have another celebration bundle, catering for those who want to enjoy low rates at different times of the day. In the 123 bundle consumers enjoy Yu to Yu call rates of Sh1, Sh2 or Sh3 depending on the time in which they are making these calls.”

Whereas the tariff is different depending on the time of day, it is clear and simple, such that consumers know what they are paying at what time.  Calls from midnight to 8am will be charged at Sh1.  Sh2 rate is for calls from 8am to 4pm and calls from 4pm to midnight will be Sh3.

Even without the bundles amua continues to be the lowest tariff in the market with all calls across networks at Sh6 all day and all night, and SMS rate of Sh1 shilling (Yu to Yu).

Mr Ramteke said all these bundles are for 90 days and are effective immediately, upon subscription.

The phone packages include a yu branded phone, which comes with an amua sim card, with activation airtime, 300 minutes of talk-time and 300 sms, a Dunda tune for a month.  Also available is either a Nokia 1680 or a Nokia 2680 on offer, both of which come with an amua sim card, with activation airtime, 300 minutes of talk-time and 300 sms, a Dunda tune for a month, as well as 100MB of data.
