NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14 – Alcoholic beverage Guinness on Tuesday launched a national consumer promotion to mark the brand’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
East African Breweries Limited Marketing Director Debra Mallowah said the Pan-African campaign will run simultaneously in all key African markets of the brand.
“It will rollout over a three month window and culminate in the global celebration of Arthur Guinness Day on September 24,” Ms Mallowah said.
She said the promotion will award thousands of prizes worth more than Sh25 million ranging from airtime, to tickets to attend a concert of the Black Eyed Peas music group.
“Six winners will each walk away with a Sh250,000 cash prize, and another six will take home Flat Screen Television Sets,” said Ms Mallowah.
Three consumers may also win a party for them and their friends while the ultimate international prize will be a trip to the space and under the sea Guinness bars.
“Consumers can participate by purchasing either a 500ml or 300ml Guinness, and texting their name, age and the alphanumeric code (under the crown) to 7575,” Ms Mallowah explained.
The promotion is taking place in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and Kenya among African countries.
“There will be a lot of similarities in the campaigns in Africa although some countries have altered their programs to suit there countries,” Ms Mallowah said.
