KQ launches SMS alert for customers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20 – Kenya Airways (KQ) has launched a Short Message Service (SMS) alert facility to keep its passengers informed of flight updates.

KQ’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Dick Omondi said on Monday that the launch reaffirms the airline’s commitment to improving its service delivery and ensuring customer satisfaction.

“Our commitment is to provide our customers with real-time flight schedule updates on their mobile phones,” said Mr Omondi.

The SMS alert service is a suite of services that enables Kenya Airways customers to obtain information on request using their mobile phones.

By sending an SMS to 7767, passengers can get information on scheduled flight departure and arrival times plus the latest real-time update of their flight’s status, including any delays.

“By introducing this service we are meeting our customers need for easy access to information,” said Mr Omondi.

The new service is not limited to passengers who have registered for it. It is open to anyone with a query on the status of a particular flight, he added.

He explained that passengers should provide their mobile phones numbers at the time of booking for their tickets, to ensure they can be reached in case the status of their flight changes. This also includes passengers who book through travel agents.

Kenya Airways has renewed its focus on customer service in recent times, and is making full use of modern technology to do so, including a Booking Engine facility on its website and On-Line Check-In facility.
