Kenya Fairmont hotels ranked highly

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 19 – Three of East Africa’s Fairmont Chain of hotels have been listed in the world’s best hotels list by the UK based Travel and Leisure magazine.

Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont the Norfolk were ranked second, eighth and thirteenth position respectively along with twenty two other Fairmont hotels and resorts worldwide.

 According to a statement from the hotel chain, Fairmont Mara Safari Club made a big impression, ranking number two overall out of the top 25 hotels in the Travel & Leisure 2009 – Africa and the Middle East category.

On receiving the awards, Serge Simard, Regional Vice President Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Africa noted that it was through a collective effort of their colleagues that the group managed to remain top of the list in this year’s Travel & Leisure awards.

“It is extremely encouraging to the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts East Africa team as we continue offering world class services and placing Kenya in the map of world class travel destinations,” noted Mr Simard.

Newcomers to the World’s Best list included The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in California, and Fairmont Mayakoba, located in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.

Other Fairmont hotels and resorts featured include Fairmont Singapore, The Fairmont Acapulco Princess, The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle, Fairmont Scottsdale, The Fairmont San Francisco, The Fairmont Washington, D.C, The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui and the Big Island’s Fairmont Orchid.
The World’s Best Hotels List names the 500 top rated hotels and resorts around the world, which are evaluated on location, overall design, rooms, amenities, food and dining and service, to achieve an overall score.
