Kampala Serena joins world finest hotel club

KAMPALA, November 27 – Kampala Serena Hotel is now a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, a prestigious luxury hospitality organization that represents the world\’s finest hotels, resorts and spas.

In order to be considered for inclusion, the hotel had to undergo a rigorous inspection process encompassing 1,500 quality standards covering areas such as infrastructure, services offered, guest attention and staff excellence.

Speaking at a cocktail reception celebrating the achievement, Serena Hotels Group CEO, Mahmud Jan Mohamed said, "This is a proud moment for us and I take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to each and every member of the Kampala Serena Hotel team for this achievement."

Uganda\’s state minister for tourism noted that the hotels achievement was significant in promoting tourism adding that Uganda has now been placed on the world map of tourism destinations.

Of the 18 member hotels currently found in nine African countries, nine are found in South Africa, four in Mauritius and two in Zimbabwe; the rest are equally split between Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia and now Uganda (one each).

Kampala Serena Hotel becomes the first and only member in Uganda while the Nairobi Serena Hotel is currently the only member in Kenya; together these two properties are the only members of the Leading Hotels of the World in the entire East and Central African region.
