LONDON, United Kingdom, Nov 17 – Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has voiced his support for Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Pochettino admitted that managing a big club always comes with added pressure to produce results right from the start, but doesn’t believe it is fair to judge a manager so early in his reign.

Mourinho’s management at Old Trafford has already come under scrutiny following a few humiliating defeats, public criticism of his players, and disciplinary action taken against him by the Football Association.

However, Pochettino has come to his opposite number’s defence, stating that Mourinho simply needs more time to mould his team.

“It’s clear that when you are with a great club, as I am with Tottenham, the pressure to win is always greater,” Pochettino told ESPN Argentina. “And there are always voices of criticism when the results are not what everyone anticipates.

“Definitely, whenever one starts a new project, it requires time. In this case, even though Jose is one of the best coaches in the world, he needs more time to put his ideas in place and so that the team can function as he wants them to.

“It is too early to pass judgment regarding things that are happening with the teams just yet.”
