LONDON, United Kingdom, Sep 19 – Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has warned Nigeria international Alex Iwobi not to let his recent good performances for the Gunners go to his head.
The 20-year-old played a crucial role in two of Arsenal’s goals in their 4-1 victorty over Hull City on the weekend.
He also performed admirably in the Gunners’ 1-1 Champions League draw with PSG last week, and seems to be in the process of becoming an increasingly influential member of the north London club.
Wenger has declared himself to be impressed by the Lagos-born youngster’s progress, although he has also cautioned Iwobi to remain grounded.
“Yes, he had a good performance, and you want him to improve,” said the Arsenal manager after the Hull match.
“He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility. We have to take care that he keeps that quality, because it’s an important one.
“But he has gained confidence and power. I believe as well he has a good combination between quick passing, picking players out and running with the ball. He gets that balance right, until now, and that’s not easy.”
