THIKA, Kenya, Aug 16- The fourth edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA), officially kicked off on Tuesday, with a record number of teams taking part in the week-long competition to be held at the Thika County Stadium.
The championship was officially opened by the hosting county governor William Kabogo who noted the growth of the annual event in both stature and significance and applauded the participating counties for embracing diversity and national cohesion.
“This is a perfect opportunity for counties and Kenyans to showcase their diversity, culture and talent; and at the same time build cohesion through sporting,” he said.
Kabogo added that such an event was a good ground to promote mutual tolerance and respect, evident from the air of anticipation, apprehension and the feeling of competition to emerge the best.
“Sport and tough competition with a spirit of fair play, prepare you well for many of the challenges of life,” he added.
Preparations for the event started in early April with the pitches and buildings within the sports facilities receiving a face lift.
