MANCHESTER, United Kingdom, July 23- Paul Pogba is worth nowhere near the Sh11.5bn Manchester United are expected to offer Juventus for the Frenchman, according to former team-mate Paul Scholes.

Pogba could become the most expensive footballer ever should he complete a return to Old Trafford this summer, with a Sh13.5bn fee not out of the question following negotiations, as United try to re-sign a player they allowed to leave for nothing four years ago.

Scholes, who played and trained with the 23-year-old for a brief period during their time together at the Red Devils, was scathing in his assessment of the ongoing transfer saga.

“I just don’t think he is worth £86m,” the ex-England international told Sport Witness.

“For that sort of money, you want someone who is going to score 50 goals a season like (Cristiano) Ronaldo or (Lionel) Messi. Pogba is nowhere worth that kind of money yet.”

Scholes’ memories of a young Pogba are an exciting talent who expected too much, too early.

“He was a very talented young player. I played with him and I knew how good he was. He played for the first team maybe once or twice, but from my understanding he was asking for too much money. For his age, he was asking for far too much money, that too for a player who hasn’t played first team football.”

“OK, he has gone on to great things. I think certainly there has been a lot of improvement. He needed to improve if he is going to be a player worth Sh11.5bn.”
