Kante set for Chelsea talks after agreeing fee

N'Golo Kante will hold talks with Chelsea after a fee was agreed with Leicester.

N’Golo Kante will hold talks with Chelsea after a fee was agreed with Leicester.

LONDON, United Kingdom, July 15 – Chelsea have agreed a fee of around Sh4.2bn (£32m) for Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Leicester offered Kante an improved four-year contract before Euro 2016, but the France international has now told the club he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.

It is thought the midfielder will have a medical over the weekend, before meeting up with Chelsea on their pre-season training camp in Austria, where he will discuss personal terms.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has insisted he would like Kante to stay at the club but said he would understand if the 25-year-old wished to leave the King Power stadium.

He said: “I don’t want to lose him. I don’t want to, but I could understand if he wants to go.”

Kante was arguably one of the outstanding performers of the season last year, making 37 appearances as Leicester won the Premier League title for the first time in their history.

He joined the Foxes from French side Caen last summer and made his international debut in March this year before going on to be a part of Didier Deschamps’ side as they reached the final of Euro 2016 on home soil.
