LEICESTER, United Kingdom June 15 – Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has said that striker Jamie Vardy is still yet to make a decision on whether he wants to move to Arsenal this summer.

According to ESPN FC, Vardy, who scored 24 goals and notched up eight assists in 36 Premier League appearances, underwent the first stage of his medical after Arsenal triggered the release clause in his contract earlier this month.

The Premier League champions made a counter offer in order to try and keep hold of the 29-year-old and Ranieri revealed that Vardy is in two minds about what to do.

“We want to keep him,” Ranieri told Sky Sports Italia. “Arsenal have said that they are willing to pay the clause but he hasn’t accepted yet. It’s up to the player to say yes or no.”

In addition to Vardy, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez have also been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium, but Ranieri is determined to keep hold of all the members of his team that guided Leicester to their first-ever Premier League title.

“I hope I can keep all of my champions and add those players we are looking for to strengthen the squad,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ranieri also conceded that Leicester are unlikely to retain their Premier League title in the 2016/17 season, but added that the Foxes will not go down without a fight.

“An extremely difficult season is awaiting us because what we have achieved cannot be repeated,” he said. “I am curious to see what will happen: it’s an incredible group and I want to see what we can do.

“Let’s concentrate on the Community Shield first, and then let’s try and keep up with the top five or six clubs.”
