LIVERPOOL, United Kingdom May 27 – Martin Skrtel’s agent, Karol Csonto, has revealed that his client is likely to leave Anfield at the end of next month.
The Slovakia international lost his place in the starting line-up due to indifferent form and recurring injuries, making just 27 appearances for the Reds this season, which was his lowest since joining the club from Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2008.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a move away from Liverpool, with Turkish champions Besiktas tipped as front-runners in a bid to secure the defender’s services.
Csonto has confirmed that Besiktas is one of the teams interested in Skrtel, but the deal is not yet done.
“Besiktas is one of those interested in Martin but we’re haven’t reached a point where I can confirm Martin is going there, or anywhere else,” Csonto told Slovakian TV station Markiza.
“I can say that it is 90 per cent certain Martin will leave Liverpool, but it is far from closed.”
