NAIROBI, Kenya May 10- Posta Rangers head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has been named the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya/Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month for April.

Otieno won the award ahead of Tusker FC’s Paul Nkata, Gor Mahia’s Jose Marcelo Ferreira and Muhoroni Youth’s James Omondi after being voted unanimously by the SJAK Football Commission.

Posta have been a force to reckon with in the month of April where they finished unbeaten and are currently third on the SportPesa Premier League standings on 21 points.

Posta played four games in April, winning three and drawing twice to collect 11 out of 15 points available on offer.

They began the month with a draw away to Thika United, then won at home to Ulinzi Stars, drew away to Bandari before wrapping up with back-to-back wins against Tusker and Ushuru FC.

Posta are seen as potential title contenders this season and Otieno believes if they can maintain the tempo, they will be seriously in it.

“We are new in the league and looking at how we have performed in the first 12 games of the season, we have a chance to do well. I think we have been playing well and I am satisfied with what the players have given,” Otieno told said.

Being a former defender with the national team Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia, Otieno has seen his side as one of the meanest defensively and in the month of April, they conceded only one goal.

In the entire league, Posta have conceded only six times seeing their side being the best at the back alongside defending champions Gor Mahia.
