Gor to host ‘Mashemeji Derby’ first leg in 2016

NAIROBI, December 29 – Kenyan Premier League has released the fixtures of the first four rounds of the 2016 season scheduled to kick-off February 13.

The first-leg of the ‘Mashemeji Derby’ pitting champions Gor Mahia and bitter rivals AFC Leopards will be held on March 6 with K’Ogalo hosting the encounter either at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium or Kasarani.

The season-opening DSTV Super Cup between Gor and GOtv Shield winners Bandari will for the first time he hosted outside Nairobi with Mombasa staging the competition scheduled for February 6.

The season proper will get underway a week later, on the weekend K’Ogalo and Bandari will be out to represent the country in the continental assignments.

Gor will host their Madagascan counterparts, CNaPS in the opening leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round whilst Bandari will be away in Democratic Republic of Congo to battle it out with FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo in the Confederations Cup.

In the opening day of the 2016 SportPesa Premier League campaign, Ulinzi Stars welcome Sony Sugar, Newly promoted side Kakamega Homeboyz entertain Western Stima, Tusker travel to Thika United while Sofapaka take on Ushuru FC in Machakos.

Gor will open their title defence away to Chemelil Sugar on February 17.

Tusker FC will shift their home matches to Meru’s Kinoru Stadium after the conclusion of the year-long renovation by the County Government of Meru.

The first match at Kinoru Stadium will see the Brewers host Ulinzi on February 20.

According to KPL official website, full fixture of the entire season will be released on Friday.
