LONDON, December 23- Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes has insisted that the former Chelsea manager has not agreed to replace Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea last week, has been linked with the manager position at United after the Red Devils were knock out of the Champions League by VfL Wolfsburg and dropped out of the top four on the Premier League standings following back to back losses to Bournemouth and Norwich City.
However, Mendes made it clear that United have not contacted Mourinho about becoming Van Gaal’s successor.
“There is nothing,” Mendes told Globoesporte. “We don’t know what will happen in the future, but now there is no agreement. There isn’t an official proposal either, that’s not true.”
But, despite Mendes’ comments, there has been mounting speculation that Mourinho is eager to become United’s new manager should he be offered the position.
