LONDON, October 30- The Football Association confirmed they will investigate the laser incident involving Wayne Rooney against Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

Footage emerged in the wake of Manchester United’s defeat to Boro on penalties in the Capital One Cup fourth round at Old Trafford, which shows a bright green light shining on Rooney’s face as he took his spot-kick.

The United captain’s effort was saved by visiting goalkeeper Tomas Mejias as the Teessiders won the shootout 3-1, with Michael Carrick and Ashley Young also failed to convert from the spot for Louis van Gaal’s side.

The penalties were taken at the end housing the travelling supporters and the FA announced on Thursday that the matter was under investigation.
