LONDON, September 9- Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will likely welcome the news that Diego Costa is suspended for Spain’s next Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg.
The 26-year-old striker was dogged by hamstring problems during his first season at Stamford Bridge, forcing him to withdraw from the Spanish squad on numerous occasions.
Costa missed the Community Shield clash with Arsenal as he continued his recovery from injury, but has featured in all four Premier League games for Mourinho’s side this season.
He started for La Furia Roja in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia on Tuesday and picked up a booking in the 1-0 win, which has led to a one-match ban due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Costa was surprised to hear that he will miss the clash in Logrono on October 9 for disciplinary reasons, but Mourinho won’t mind.
“I’m suspended against Luxembourg? It’s the first I’ve heard about it,” the former Atletico Madrid ace told AS after the game in Skopje.
