PARIS, September 2- Former Paris Saint-Germain star Edouard Cisse is confident Angel Di Maria will thrive in the French capital after a tough season with Manchester United.
Cisse was critical of Van Gaal’s treatment of the Argentine winger, claiming his management methods killed Di Maria’s chances of impressing in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old made his debut for the French champions over the weekend, coming off the bench in PSG”s 3-0 hammering of Monaco on Sunday.
Cisse believes Di Maria will thrive under the tutelage of Laurent Blanc, even though he felt the Argentina international was a little lackluster in his weekend cameo.
“He was a little short of sharpness in Monaco, but that’s normal. He will bring rhythm and an ability to cut into defences,” he told Canal .
“He will have a good manager. One of his best seasons came under Ancelotti. Van Gaal killed him.
“He must be left to express himself, he’s an artist. Laurent Blanc will manage him and he’ll have a very good season.
Despite Les Parisiens’ dominance of French football in recent years, an undefeated season has yet to be accomplished in Ligue 1, but that is apparently precisely the goal PSG are striving towards this campaign.
“The other objective for PSG is to stay unbeaten all season. It’s never been done before in France,” Cisse added.
“To motivate the players, it’s an interesting challenge. Week after week, they would find new desire,” he concluded.
