LONDON, June 6- Manchester United face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injury suffered by Angel Di Maria in the Copa America final on Saturday.
Di Maria was part of the Argentina team that lost the tournament decider to hosts Chile on penalties, although he did not feature in the 4-1 shootout defeat.
The 27-year-old winger started the match at the Estadio Nacional de Chile, but lasted just 29 minutes before being forced off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
The British record signing would not have joined United on their pre-season tour of the United States this month after both he and compatriot Marcos Rojo were given extra time off to rest.
But the Red Devils are waiting on the results of scans to determine how long Di Maria will be sidelined for, with their Premier League campaign kicking off at home to Tottenham on August 8.
