LONDON, July 3- Chelsea have made their first big splash in the transfer market with the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco.
The Colombian striker joins the Blues on a season-long loan from the Ligue 1 side for his second season in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old spent last term on loan at Manchester United, but his four goals in 26 appearances failed to convince the Red Devils to sign him on a permanent deal.
Despite his struggles at Old Trafford, Falcao scored 104 goals in 139 appearances for Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco since moving to Europe from River Plate in 2009.
“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” he said on Chelsea’s official website.
