NAIROBI, June 16-Head coach Paul Odera has included Alex Olaba in his 38-man provisional squad that is preparing for the August Africa Cup Division 1A Championships in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The 18 year-old Pan Africa Strathmore Leos back featured at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China and was part of Paul Treu’s Kenya Sevens squad for the opening three legs of the 2014/15 Sevens World Series.

He also played at last year’s Rugby Afrique Division 1A championships in Windhoek when Kenya lost in the final to hosts Namibia.

The squad had their first residential training camp on last week and are scheduled to hold a second residential camp on the weekend of 3-5 July.

“The first training camp was a success. The players got to bond and work with the technical bench.

“We have so many good players and look forward to getting the best out of the boys, especially with the continental showpiece coming up in two months’ time,” team manager Philip Mwenesi underlined.

The team is coached by former international Odera assisted by ex-Kenya lock Mike Aung and former Sevens vice-captain Gibson Weru.
