LONDON, April 1- Olivier Giroud is gunning to outscore Arsenal team-mate Alexis Sanchez this season to help the club secure UEFA Champions League football.
Giroud is currently tied on 13 Premier League goals with Sanchez, who has scored two more than the Frenchman in all competitions.
The Gunners striker missed a good chunk of the first half of the campaign with a foot injury, but has been in good form in front of goal since returning to full fitness.
Giroud is now looking to help Arsene Wenger’s side at least cement their third-placed standing in the league, as well as defending their FA Cup crown, having reached the semi-finals this term.
And the 28-year-old believes the best way to achieve those goals is by beating Chile forward Sanchez in the scoring charts for the north Londoners come May.
“I’m not going to say something silly because it’ll be reported, but why not finish ahead of Alexis?” Giroud told RMC.
“We push each other, we’re on 13 goals, and I would like to score some more to help the team achieve its objectives.”
