LONDON, England, June 30-Manchester United newcomer Ander Herrera says that he is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to work under Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal.
The midfielder joined United earlier in June, making the switch from Athletic Bilbao after he activated a clause in his contract which allowed him to depart the Spanish outfit.
Van Gaal, who is currently at the helm of the Netherlands team doing duty at the World Cup, has only enhanced his already sterling reputation at the showpiece in Brazil, guiding Oranje to the last eight of the competition.
Herrera admits that he can’t wait for United’s pre-season campaign to start so that he can begin working with van Gaal.
“Louis van Gaal is one of the best managers in the world and, for me, I am lucky to be working with him,” Herrera told MUTV.
“I want to learn a lot of things and I cannot wait to play with van Gaal, my new team-mates and for Manchester United.
“I’m really excited to go on pre-season to America and play against Roma and Inter Milan.”
The Spaniard will link up with compatriots David De Gea and Juan Mata at Old Trafford, and he reveals that he has spoken to the duo about life in the Premier League.
“I know they are very happy,” he said. “I was talking to them and they told me this is the biggest club in the world and that we have a very good squad.
“They can help me settle at Manchester United. We are very good friends and I’m sure they will help me adapt at the club.”
