LONDON, England, April 7- Wojciech Szczesny believes Arsenal still have a lot to play for following their latest set back, but called on his team-mates to bounce back quickly.
The Gunners’ top-four place is in serious danger following a 3-0 defeat to Everton, who are now just a point behind with a game in hand, on Sunday.
However, Arsenal still have a great chance at lifting the FA Cup this season as they prepare to face trophy holders Wigan Athletic in the semi-final at Wembley on Saturday.
And Szczesny admits that they will have to pick themselves up quickly if they are to end a nine-year wait for silverware.
“We’ve got plenty to play for still. We’ve got the FA Cup now, so we’re going to have to switch on and focus very quickly and forget about this,” the goalkeeper was quoted as saying in The Mirror.
“I hope we can kick on from now and start a good run.
“The Wigan game is huge obviously. We know it’s the only trophy we can win and it will be a massive boost for the club and the fans.”
Asked if he believes Arsenal can bounce back from their latest setback, Szczesny added: “Yes, we’ve managed to do it every single time so far, so although we haven’t been at our very best recently, we believe we can do it, yes.”
