Simba XV mauled by SWD Eagles

TUSKER-SIMBAS-XVJOHANNESBURG, South Africa, March 15- The SWD Eagles scored a convincing victory in their second Vodacom Cup match when they smashed the Tusker Simba XV 51-7 (25-0 halftime) on a windy City Park-stadium in Athlone, Cape Town.

With the the win the Eagles scored their first victory of the season, but for the Tusker Simba XV, who beat the EP-Kings by 17-10 in the first round, it is back to the drawing board after an unconvincing display against the Eagles.

The men from George came out running on Saturday and managed to score nine tries in the process. The Kenyan-side had to do most of the defending throughout the game but showed some promise on the attack when they had the ball in hand.

Speedsters Hentzwill Pedro, Duwayne Smart and Daniel Robberts and looseforwards Shaun Raubenheimer and Janneman Stander all scored in the first half for the visiting team after some excellent interplay between the SWD forwards and backline players.

The five tries in the first half secured the bonus point for the Eagles and they kept the big Kenyan-forwards out of the game by starving them of possession.

Even against 14 men the Tusker Simba XV could not score any points.

The Eagles started off the second 40 minutes where they stopped in the first.

They kept the Kenyans under pressure by running the ball at them. The Kenyans saw more of the ball in the second half but unforced errors kept the team from scoring any points.

Even with the wind in their face the Eagles kept running the ball at the Kenyans and managed to score a further four more tries in the second half to stretch their lead to 51-0.
