LONDON, England, February 21- Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has revealed a deal for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is “90 percent done”.
The Serbia international announced earlier in February his intention to leave the Red Devils at the end of the season, with Inter quickly making their intentions to sign the 32-year-old known.
And while an agreement is yet to be reached, Thohir is hoping to make an announcement soon.
“I don’t want to announce something that’s 90% done,” Thohir is quoted as saying on Inter’s official website. “I think it’s better to make an announcement when it’s complete.
“I don’t want to speak on something that’s not done yet.”
Meanwhile, Napoli boss Rafa Benitez believes Chelsea sold their best player when they let Juan Mata join Premier League rivals Untied.
Benitez worked with his Spanish compatriot during his time as the Blues’ interim manager during the 2012/13 season, with the pair eventually lifting the Europa League title at the end of the campaign.
Now in charge of Serie A big hitters Napoli, the tactician believes World Cup and European Championships winner Mata has been the club’s top performer over the last two years, and feels the Londoners were wrong to let him go.
“I am not here to talk about Chelsea,” he told reporters. “But Juan was their best player in the last two years. That is it. You can see that.
“But I am not here to analyse what they did.”
Mata scored 33 goals in 135 appearances for the club, having joined from Valencia in 2011.
