NAIROBI, Kenya, December 20 – The play-offs to decide which two teams will be promoted to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) next season will be staged at Nairobi’s City Stadium on Saturday.
Oserian and Posta Rangers who were recently demoted from the KPL were cleared to battle it out with debutantes Top Fry All Stars and KRA to fill the positions vacated by Kakamega Homeboyz and Karuturi Sport in the 16-team league, according to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions manager, Doris Petra.
Speaking to Capital Sport on Friday, Petra said the matches were delayed to allow Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup to take place with Rangers taking on KRA for the Nairobi slot as former KPL champions Oserian clash with Top Fry for the Western region ticket.
“All plans have been finalized for the crucial games that will start at 1pm.
“The process was delayed because West Kenya Sugar FC had appealed, therefore, making the play-offs stop. But FKF has solved the matter, granting Top fry All Stars the position,” Petra told.
She added, prizes for the play-offs will be presented early next year.
Gor Mahia were crowned league champions in the first time after 18 years, finishing top with 60 points.
