Champs KCB in easy Mt. Kenya 10s draw

KCB-SEVENS-CHAMPSNAIROBI, Kenya, September 25 – With the curtains having fallen on the 18th Safaricom Sevens, attention now shifts to the inaugural Mount Kenya 10s to be held at Nanyuki Sports Club on September 29 to 30.

The draw and order of play was released on Wednesday where Safaricom 7s series champions KCB headline Pool A along side Universities, Multimedia, Kenya Methodist and Pwani as host Nanyuki Jackals will face stiff competition in pool B from Kenya Harlequins, Eldoret and Diani.

Pool C consists of a relatively tough squad where Homeboyz RFC will battle it out with Blak Blad, Laikipia Airbase and Jomo Kenyatta University.

Pool D will see Kenya Cup champions Nakuru RFC square it out with British Army Training Unit Kenya, Embu and University of Nairobi Mombasa Campus in what seems to be an easy group for Nakuru.

Tournament director Patrick Mwangi said that the annual event will bring back the glory of rugby in Mount Kenya region with the help of Nanyuki Sports Club who were promoted in the Division one league.

“We are very happy to have this tournament in this region; we are looking forward for a good tournament since our very own team the Jackal will compete. we have also extended invitation to the Kenya Sevens National team to camp here before they leave for the Gold Coast to kick of their 2013/14 IRB World Sevens Series” said the tournament director during the launch.

This is the second time the 10s format is introduced in the country after the Menengai 10s that is hosted by ‘Wanyores’ Nakuru RFC.

Entrance for the event is Sh300 per day with season tickets going for Sh500.
