Cavenagh back, pledges cash for Westgate victims

ALASTAIR AIRBORNENAIROBI, Kenya, September 26- Two-time Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) titleholder, Alastair Cavenagh will be back in action when the seventh round of this year’s event, the KCB Guru Nanak Rally, takes off on September 5.

Cavenagh who had taken a short break from the season not be challenging for top spot on the event as he will be preparing for this years East African Classic Safari Rally.

He will be behind the wheel of a 1976 Mk 2 Ford Escort which he will be using in the endurance rally navigated by Gavin Laurence.

The speed merchant has pledged to donate his team’s sponsorship money to the Westgate Mall victims.

Former World Championship winning co-driver Phil Mills who navigates Peter Solberg has built Cavenagh’s car for this year’s Classic Safari Rally and will be jetting into the country next week to monitor the car’s performance.

Cavenagh  missed out the Voi Rally as he was competing in a gruelling Iron Man competition (swim 1.9km, cycle 90km, plus Half Marathon combined) to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis that weekend in Mallorca, Spain.
